Authors Emphasize Communication in February MTLT

In their article “Noticing and Wondering to Guide Professional Conversations,” authors Tracy Dobie and Eleanor Anderson report on how they worked together to bring Notice and Wonder to life in their day-to-day interactions with colleagues. 

“Mathematical Engagement through Family Communication” presents classroom teacher Jamie Vescio’s encouragement for teachers to work with the families of their students to help build students’ math identities in mathematical learning. 

Rocco Magaletto brings mathematical modeling to his classroom. His article, “Engaging Students through Modeling,” promotes the idea that modeling can lead students to find an answer to the age-old question, “When will I use this in real life?”
