An after-school mathematics program for Latino students focuses on field trips to explore the mathematical practices of the community's businesses.

Erin E. Turner, eturner@email.arizona.edu, is an assistant professor in the department of Teaching and Teacher Education at the University of Arizona. Her research focuses on equitable mathematics instruction for diverse groups of students.

Maura C. Varley, maurav@email.arizona.edu, is a graduate student at the University of Arizona in Tucson who is interested in critical mathematics education and the intersections of gender and race at both the elementary school classroom and preservice teacher levels.
