The 2018 Winter Olympic Games will take place on February 9-25, 2018, in Pyeongchang, South Korea. One of the featured Olympic sports is figure skating. Jumps are an exciting part of singles and pairs figureskating events. Diana Cheng,, is an associate professor of mathematics at Towson University in Towson, Maryland, teaching future mathematics and science teachers. She has earned adult national figure skating medals in championship pairs and solo free skate.

Maura Twillman,, is a secondary education mathematics student at Towson University and a member of the Honors College. Cheng and Twillman have presented mathematics education research at the 2017 Joint Mathematics Meetings of the Mathematical Association of America's Mathemat ics and Arts special session.
